Seal script has long been recognized as a visual language with a rich history. In Trà’s hands, however, it extends beyond the boundaries of the traditional seal itself. What she preserves is not the original form of ancient seals, but the design principles embedded within traditional art: visual economy, balanced composition, and the ability to distill complex ideas into a remarkably compact space.
Rather than drawing inspiration from a specific historical period or artifact, Trà looks to the broader visual vocabulary of traditional art. These elements are never reproduced verbatim. Instead, they are removed from their original context, distilled to their essential forms, and reorganized into a new visual language. As a result, each design retains the familiar character of traditional aesthetics while presenting a clean, bold, and contemporary presence.
A tradition only truly remains alive when it continues to be used. Instead of being confined behind museum glass, tradition finds new life through forms that are more compact, more refined, and more minimal, while still preserving the design sensibilities that have been cultivated across generations.
